What was surprising was that she couldn’t understand why others would choose Sera over her. She already had traitors blood in her so it shouldn’t have surprised Sera so much that Lucia and her mother did this. But some people are just born bad and are twisted by their evil, power-hungry parents. Just because her parents weren’t allowed to marry didn’t give them the right to take what wasn’t theirs. I couldn’t get over how entitled and vain she was. It was also interesting to read from Lucia’s perspective. I get that Sera has a bigger fight that the others, she’s lost her home because of people she trusted betraying her family but it’s six mermaids fighting to save the world from Abbadon, not just one. The first two books mostly focused on Sera and Neela and I felt it was way past time that Astrid, Becca, Ling and Ava had time to tell their stories. I was glad that the other four mermaids finally got some time in this book. I didn’t feel like there was a huge gap between the ending on one book and the start of the next. I think Dark Tide picks up a not long after Rogue Wave ended. You can read my review of the first book, Deep Blue, here. This is the third book in the Waterfire Saga. I received a copy of Dark Tide from Hachette New Zealand to review. Publication Date – 2015 by Hodder Children’s Books
